I take genuine interest in my students and like asking them about their interests, hobbies and lives, which really helps me make my classes more personal and interesting. My teaching style is intense and high-paced, so my students have to pay constant attention and work hard, but there is always space for humour and fun in our classes. As a teacher, I want my students to grow but also have fun. Seeing smiles on their faces is my biggest professional pleasure.

尺八の練習を始めました。お師匠さんとの２回目の練習、「教本を読み、どんどん練習して分からなければ質問。それでないとうまくなりません」これはそのまま私が教室で言っていること。「先生どうしたら英語が分かるようになりますか？」これはあまり良い質問ではありません。

日本人研究者が国際会議に参加した時1番困るのは、「研究発表」でも「質疑応答」でもなく、「バンケット」です。食事を楽しみながら寛いで交流を深めるためのひとときな筈なのに居心地が悪いのは、「使える英語」が身についていないから。将来いろんなジャンルで活躍する中で、英語を使いこなせるとぐっと世界が広がります。無理なく読める英語の本を楽しみながら、大切な表現や語彙とともに英語圏の文化を吸収していきましょう。
